Roasted Sirloin SteakLeave a comment

I hosted my very first dinner party this past Saturday and from the compliments I received I think it was a success. I cooked for two of my good friends from college, Becca and Dan, it was nice to catch up with them and serve them a delicious meal. The menu was simple, but very fulfilling. It was also easy to make since I was able to prep ahead of time and enjoy their company once they arrived.

We started with some delicious cheeses I found at Wegman’s, if you haven’t tried their white stilton with cranberries, I suggest you pick some up right away. We had a steak and potatoes dinner, followed by chocolate lava cakes with homemade french vanilla ice cream-recipes to follow this week! I had a wonderful time entertaining and I look forward to many more dinner parties to come!

Sirloin Steak
What you’ll need:
3 lb. sirloin steak
Basting oil (I used Wegman’s brand)
Salt & Pepper
Dried Basil

What you’ll do:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place meat into large roasting pan, pour basting oil so that the meat is covered in it. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and basil onto top of meat. Massage the oil into the meat. Roast meat for 15 minutes at 450 degrees. Bring temperature down to 350 degrees and roast for 20-25 minutes per pound. I used 3 lbs. so I cooked it for another hour. Meat thermometer should read 125 degrees for medium. Once cooking time is up, let meat rest for 15 minutes before carving.
