Happy Valentine’s Day, I hope you have a wonderful day showering your loved ones with hugs and kisses! As I was surfing the channels last week, I noticed an ad for Martha Stewart, she suggested making these adorable pancakes for your loved ones for Valentine’s Day. So I did some research, found the recipe, and whipped them up yesterday morning for Blair & I.
I remember my mom always making pancakes of our initial or our age if it happened to be our birthday. There was also the surprise of Mickey Mouse pancakes. Over the years, I have experimented with making letters and other shapes out of pancake batter, but was never satisfied with them. I wish I found this idea earlier. All you need is a pastry bag and tip, makes life so much easier! I am sure a ziploc baggie would work as well. I can’t wait to try out some other shapes with this idea in the future! I may have to wait until we have kiddies to try out the Mickey Mouse ones though!
Heart Shaped (or any shape) Pancakes
What you’ll need:
Your favorite pancake recipe
A pastry bag
A pastry tip
What you’ll do:
Prepare your pancake batter according to your liking or in my case the directions on the box ;). Fill a pastry bag fitted with a 1/4-inch plain round tip with batter; twist end of bag, and secure with rubber band. Working in batches, pipe heart shapes, drawing V of batter in center of hearts to fill, on heated griddle. When pancakes have bubbles on top and are slightly dry around the edges, about 2 minutes, flip over. Cook until golden on the bottom, about 1 minute. Repeat with remaining batter, using 1/2 teaspoon butter on griddle for each batch, keeping finished pancakes on a heat-proof plate in the oven until ready to serve.
