Happy Friday everyone! Today is a very special post because it comes from my little sister, who is the author of Wear Something Bold Today. I encouraged her to start a fashion blog this past spring since she always has had a love for it. She also is very good about pushing me to wear things that are normally out of my comfort zone. We spent our Columbus day a few weeks ago finding new ways to wear my wardrobe since we are trying to save after buying the house. Be sure to check her out! I will be back to posting on Monday morning.
Hi Dainty Chef readers! As Krissy said I am her younger sister and this past Spring she encouraged me to start a fashion/style blog. My love for fashion has blossomed over the years and my style is constantly evolving. My blog encourages readers to “wear something bold today” and is geared towards the everyday woman, so often we see pictures in the media of celebrities and models that are “sample sizes” and this portrays a misconception of what trends and style work on the everyday women. In my blog I post about the latest trends and ways to incorporate them into your everyday look. My style is very eclectic in the sense that it changes on a daily basis depending on my mood or where I draw inspiration from. Perhaps the greatest thing I have learned over the years is to find pieces that help accentuate my curves rather then hiding them as this results in a well executed outfit that is flattering to my figure.
Currently I am doing my first 30 for 30 remix (I got the idea from Kendi Everyday) all you do is take 30 items from your wardrobe and remix them into 30 outfits- today is outfit #5 for me! The point of the remix is to help you “shop your closet” and find out what you need vs. want in the long run. Today’s look is a perfect example of how to wear trendy items on the “everyday woman”; I love the look of blazers but have had a hard time incorporating them in my wardrobe since they usually do not flatter my figure. However by pairing a tailored blazer with a fitted top underneath I am able wear this trend without looking boxy. I also tend to be drawn to looks that can be taken from day to night; this outfit would be my day look since the boyfriend jeans helps give the blouse and blazer a more relaxed feel. I would take it to night by pumping up the volume and replacing the flats with heels and putting on a pair of leather shorts or a leather skirt like this one underneath black tights!
