Brownie Chocolate Mousse Trifle
I feel like recently I have been hitting the dessert jackpot, I have found so many great recipes via Pinterest and some family members. I still have so many new ones that I want to try, but with usually only two mouths to eat them I need to pace myself. Of course I am always happy to make new things for family, coworkers, and friends. My sister-in-law Dawn had made this trifle back in January for my parents’ Polar Bear Plunge Party. Being the chocolate loving family that we are, we all quickly fell in love with this dessert.

I knew the ladies at work would love this so I posed a poll on my Facebook page to see if they wanted this trifle or a black bean & feta dip (I ended up making this for the Superbowl, recipe coming soon). The response for the trifle was overwhelming so I happily obliged. Everyone loved it and immediately asked for the recipe that is how I know I have done a good job. This dessert could not be easier. You start with your favorite box of brownies or homemade version, cut them into bite size pieces. The chocolate mousse is light and airy made with a box of chocolate pudding. Alternate those two layers with your favorite whipped topping and you’ve got one yummy dessert. It’s easy, it’s chocolately, it’s delicious, and it feeds a crowd. What more could you ask for?

Brownie & Chocolate Mousse Trifle

1 package brownie mix or your favorite homemade kind
1 (3.9 oz.) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1/2 cup water
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
3 (8 oz.) containers frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 chocolate bar for garnish

What you’ll do:

Prepare your favorite brownie mix according to package directions, cool completely, and cut into 1 inch squares. I used an 11×7 dish so that I can get enough squared for 2 layers of brownie in the trifle.

In a large bowl, combine pudding mix, water and sweetened condensed milk. Mix until smooth, then fold in 8 ounces whipped topping until no streaks remain. In a trifle bowl or glass serving dish, place half of the brownies, half of the pudding mixture and one 8 ounce container of whipped topping. Repeat layers. Shave chocolate onto top layer for garnish. Refrigerate 8 hours before serving.
