Hope everyone has been having a wonderful time with family and friends. We are headed to North Carolina today and will head back just in time to celebrate the new year. I am looking forward to 2013 and hoping for good things for Blair and I. The last little bit of 2012 put a damper on our year, but here’s hoping for brighter days in the near future.
As for our favorites, Blair and I came up with individual lists, then we compared ours to each others. It was a really tough decision this year, but we finally got it down to the top ten! We tried so many great things this past year so without further ado, here are our favorites.
Homemade Chocolate Syrup– I can’t believe that we just made this over the past year, it has been a staple in our fridge since I first made it. We enjoy many dinners with a side of chocolate milk or a little drizzled on some vanilla ice cream.
Goat Cheese Potato Gratin– Words can not express my love for goat cheese so when you put it with another favorite of mine (potatoes) you have the world’s greatest side dish!
Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake– This was so wonderful that I wanted to eat it for both breakfast and dessert. My Granny also loved it, and when she approves what I make, it definitely makes me happy.
Allen & Son BBQ Sauce– Blair grew up on BBQ so he has been on the hunt for the best sauce, I think we finally found it!
Mexican Sweet Potato Skins– One of my resolutions this year was to plan at least one meatless meal a week and I succeeded. These were probably our favorite meatless meal of the year.
Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese– This was the final installment of my recipe remix, where I took one protein and presented it in 3 different ways. Hopefully in 2013, I will give this little segment a go again.
Pad Thai– Take-out at home and so easy to make.
S’mores Ice Cream– We had our fair share of s’mores this year with the addition of our new firepit, but this ice cream hit the mark on those hot summer nights.
Milk Chocolate Brownie Ice Cream– This has become my absolute favorite ice cream flavor to make. Just seeing the picture makes me crave a big bowl right now.
